Alternative Break

Alternative Breaks

Bali Institute offers custom-designed Alternative Breaks programs for student groups from universities around the world. Our 10 day to 3-week volunteer experiences focused on social, environmental and health issues facing Bali.

Volunteer projects include teaching English and computer skills to Balinese youth, assisting in health services offered in the village or collaborating with a local NGO on environmental campaigns for the reduction of plastic. Our team works directly with your group to create the perfect service opportunity that fits your interests!

Your days in Bali will be filled with cross-cultural opportunities that include working with local organizations, leadership training to integrate your learning, and cultural activities to get to know the local traditions, practices and people. Additionally, you’ll embark on such adventures as white-water rafting, snorkeling in the most beautiful waters in the world, visiting sacred temples, bicycling through small villages and much more!

We will be staying in Ubud, the cultural arts capital of Bali. This fascinating village has all the comforts of home, but has a distinct essence that draws people from all over the world to witness its serenity, beauty and power. We will all be staying together in local lodging near rice paddies and village activities—close to the palace, temples and artist compounds.
