Dr. I Nyoman Kandia is recognized as a Balinese leader in cultural tourism, and currently is the only Balinese representing tourism on the Indonesian Tourism Promotion Board decreed by the President of Indonesia. His tremendous background in cultural, spiritual and historical knowledge provides unique perspectives when serving as a senior-level guide. He serves in numerous capacities including as consultant for the Ministry of Indonesian Tourism in Development and Empowerment and Community Based Tourism. He was Chairman of the organizing committee of the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations, a trainer for tourist guides all over Indonesia, and has held more than 20 positions in various aspects of tourism and tourist guide positions. He is also a wood carver at his famous wood-carving village of Mas. He also serves as the Chairman of Bali Hindu Ashram representative for the World Hindu Gathering, as the Vice Chairman for Indonesia Tourism Village Networks in Jakarta, and as the founder and president for Southeast Asia Tourist Guide Associations.
