Elsha Bohnert

Born in Jakarta from Dutch-Indonesian parents and raised in Kalimantan Timur, Elsha is a self-taught and multiple award-winning artist, whose work is in public and private collections throughout the USA, Europe, and Japan. She is a published poet and a creativity coach, and has presented many workshops on “Unleashing Creativity.” Active in the recycling movement, she owned the highly acclaimed Magic Attic Gallery & Studio for recycled and painted furniture from 1992-1996 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She has served as president of the National League of American Pen Women – Honolulu Branch 2002-2004 and has been a valued board member of the Oahu Arts Center. She is known for her popular Annual Recycled Art Shows and Trash2Fashion Shows, sponsored by the City & County of Honolulu, Hawaii. In addition to the arts, she actively supports alternative and indigenous healing practices. She is the former founder and director of the Houston Wellness Center, the first holistic clinic in Texas (1982) where she assembled a team of internationally acclaimed alternative therapists and physicians. Having spent over a year in Bali, she has recently moved back to Hawaii.
